The challenge of this pool was to find a way to seamlessly integrate the opposing design elements of a free-form and rectilinear shapes while still maintaining the design and flow of the existing pool. This was achieved by separating the spaces with a visually interesting accent wall that doubles as a privacy barrier for swimmers enjoying the sun shelf. The accent wall cantilevers out over the water 6 feet and contains plumbing for the cannon water features that shoot over each side of the main stair entrance as well as electrical for the lighted cut out “windows.” The pool interior is a combination of two shades of gray porcelain tile that create an inviting glacier blue tone with great depth of color.

Another challenge with this project was to find a way to “fence off” the pool area without using a traditional pool fence or cover so as to maintain the view from the home. The solution was a custom designed glass lift and pivot panel system. Designed by Red Rock, this is the first project to use this unique system. Each glass panel sits on its own bearing system and can be turned 90 degrees from the closed position which, when viewed from the home, gives the illusion of them disappearing. They can also be picked and removed from the mounts in order to completely open the space leading to the pool.
