What aspect of a project is Red Rock Contractors/Pools and Spas most proud of?
When HGTV Producer, Ashley Holm (Kid Nation, Intervention), asked me "What is the one part of the "One in a Million" project we were filming, that I was the most proud of, I don't think she got the answer she was expecting. I could have pointed out over a dozen of difficult, intricate details that only a few contractors could have pulled off, I could have pointed out the huge task of completing a project of this size in a very short time frame with extremely difficult access. Instead, literally as i was digesting the question, the correct answer came to my lips. Here, as I sat in the yard of one of our defining projects, one that we overcame unbelievable obstacles, created effects some said could not be done, installing technology non existent only months prior, testing the depths of knowledge of our suppliers, manufacturers, and their brightest technicians, and working with scales outside most contractors capacities, and what gave me the most pride was that we had built the most important thing of all; A Relationship.
The only reason I was sitting in this paradise, being interviewed by one of the industries strongest producers, to be part of the premier of an awesome new show was not because we completed all those tasks with perfection, it was because we first built a relationship of trust with the customer. The same customer that let my partner Brett Blauvelt and I inject our knowledge, taste, and experience without question. The same customer that allows us unobstructed access to their paradise for our own use and our families. The same customer that has went over and above on multiple occasions to allow us to bring film crews, potential clients, and friends into their paradise in order to help us continue to expand our business on multiple occasions. It was at that instant that I remembered the reason we have been successful; it is not just the projects we have built, not just what is included in those projects that no one else attempts, it was the fact that we built a relationship so strong with the client, that they feel compelled to help promote our business. Without that relationship, very few would have ever seen the fruits of our labor. We would tell stories, but few would listen, assuming they were embellishments of long hard days at work. Instead, our work has been profiled nationally on the travel channel, locally on every major TV station, graced the pages of multiple local and national publications, and won national awards of distinction from our peers.
It takes hard work, experience, creativity, quality and maybe a little luck, but more important than all that; it takes relationships to be successful. Must we never lose site of our clients dreams, while at the same time creating some of our own.
